Theme Parks Are Cutting Prices This Summer, Here's What You Need to Know
Great British Summer Savings means some family attractions and theme parks should cost less this summer.
If you are planning a theme park day out this summer, there is actually some decent news for once on the price front.
The government has launched Great British Summer Savings, which kicked off on 25 June 2026. It is a temporary VAT cut on children's meals, kids tickets for theatres and cinemas, and admission for everyone at attractions like theme parks, soft play and adventure centres. Basically, if you are taking the family out this summer, it should cost a bit less than it did last year.
The big names that have already signed up to pass the savings on include Merlin Entertainments, which means Alton Towers, Chessington, Thorpe Park, Legoland Windsor and The London Eye are all in. Merlin is also running a two parks for the price of one offer on top of the VAT cut, which is actually a pretty good deal.
Paultons Park is in too. Their managing director said the scheme gives families extra confidence to enjoy experiences together, which is a nice way of putting it. Crealy Theme Park in Devon, Gulliver's across all four of their UK parks, and Camel Creek in Cornwall are also included.
On top of the theme park savings, kids aged 5 to 15 in England can travel free on local buses throughout August, which helps if you are trying to get somewhere without paying through the nose for petrol or parking.
The savings are already live, so if you are heading to any of these parks between now and the end of summer, the cheaper prices should already be in place when you buy your tickets. Worth checking the park's website before you go, because some are doing more than just the basic VAT reduction.
